I came to ceramics with a long held belief that I wasn’t artistic. In 2008, I took a parent/teen clay class with my youngest son and discovered that my hands had a wisdom of their own.
I treasure the hours I spend in the studio focused on the being and the doing and letting my thinking brain quiet. This has been a gift for my other work – I am a novelist and spend so much of my time in that thinking place. Ceramics creates a much needed balance to my life.
I owe a debt of gratitude to my friend and fellow writer, Bliss Morgan, who coined the term ‘Dragon Bellies’ when she saw my hand built work.
Please feel free to browse my catalogue. What I have for sale will vary with my artistic inspirations and the random happenstances of adding heat to clay and glaze. I am also not a production potter and only make a small amount of work at any given time. If something you like isn’t in stock, it can take 3-4 weeks to finish the process from clay to glazed piece.
Because the work I create can vary in size and weight, I need to calculate shipping for each order individually. You can select items or inquire through the catalogue without purchasing and I will invoice you with a full quote including shipping.
For folks who like to browse and hold work in their shopping process, my work is on display and for sale at West Brookfield Art and Frame in West Brookfield, MA (Central MA).
If you have an idea of something you would like that isn’t in the catalogue, you can contact me and ask about commissions. While I do enjoy the challenge of making new and different work, if what you’re looking for isn’t in my repertoire, I will be happy to recommend another potter who may be better able to fulfill your request.
